Combi Clutch: Chic Diabetic Accessory

As a lot of people will be aware; I have Fibromyalgia, a chronic illness which I struggle daily with, it leaves me in a lot of pain and I have to use mobility devices when leaving the house and I'm a part time wheelchair user. The main reason I wanted to start this blog was to talk about how my Fibro effects me and how I deal with it. I also wanted to show people I still strive to look as stylish as I can (when I do rarely leave my house) despite some of the set backs I endure. What some people may not know is that I have been a type one Diabetic for over 20 years, and that leads me to this post..

Any diabetic will tell you the struggles about having to always carry things around with you, there's plenty of memes out there, especially aimed at women, stating you'll be able to pick a diabetic out of a crowd just by looking at the size of their bag, because, even through it's very superficial compared to the other struggles of being a diabetic, we do have to carry an array of items and consumables on our person, all the time. Whether it's blood glucose meters and insulin pens, spare infusion sets if you're a pump user, dextrose tablets, sweets, a surgery drink.. the list could go on for the rest of time because everyone is different. This stuff in a hand bag becomes incredibly bulky, for myself I would have my blood glucose meter in a case, and then both my insulin pens in another, taking up practically my whole bag if I was carrying a small handbag, which I never would because I would never compromise on packing my make up bag, purse, probably an umbrella because lets face it I live in England, basically packing everything except my kitchen sink. Since developing Fibromyalgia, carrying a big, heavy bag just became impossible. Thank god for this product I stumbled upon..

Combi Clutch

I can't remember how I came across this company, I want to say on Twitter, but the minute I saw prikkedief's products I was so excited to place an order for one of their Combi Clutches. The idea is just so nice, I used to buy cheap clutches to throw all the stuff I needed to take with me so it was all in one place within my bag, but having everything loose in one small bag was just not a good idea. This clutch gives you the options to put your diabetic equipment and supplies where ever you like within the clutch, but they'll be nice and secure to make sure nothing can potentially become damaged or leak. The Combi Clutch's designs make them look so stylish, I have never seen anything this stylish for diabetic supplies, I think a lot of companies think it doesn't matter what their accessories look like, but of course it does to many people! I know for me personally, being able to style something that otherwise is a bane makes me feel a lot better about the situation. They come in 7 different colours and right now they have the option of coming with a gold zip!

Prikkedief is a company based in the Netherlands, their shipping was surprisingly quick and their products are well made and so far extremely durable! Their Combi Clutches and pen clutches are also non leather so great for me and other veggies out there. Their pen clutch is made to store 2 insulin pens and a netted pocket to hold spare needle heads, and comes in the same colours as the clutch and has the option of having a gold or coloured zip. Prikkedief also have a range of apparel to purchase as well, including tshirts, posters and power bracelets.

I usually put things like dextrose tablets or spare needle heads in the netting pocket

I'm actually looking into becoming a pump user again, which means I obviously won't be carrying a insulin pen around with me if I am successful in applying for an insulin pump, but I'm confident I'll still get a lot of use out of my Combi Clutch! However I have decided if I don't, I'm hoping my Diabetic specialist will let me donated the clutch to the Diabetic Children's clinic, so hopefully one of the younger patients will be happy to take it off my hands!
